Improve Your Diet With Fruits and Veggies

By Francine Summerstone

Everyone knows that they should be eating plenty of fruits and vegetables but so many of us don't. The recommended amounts are 3 to 4 servings of fruit and at least 4 to 5 servings of vegetables each day.

When you start eating more fruits and vegetables, you'll notice one of the benefits right away. Fruits and veggies are high in fiber, which not only keeps you regular but helps you feel full quicker and stay that way longer. This means that you'll have less desire for more food and can lead to weight loss.

Fruits and vegetables are also full of nutrients. They contain vitamins and minerals that your body needs to run properly. They also contain a ton of antioxidants that can prevent cancer and some can even halt cancer cell growth. Vegetables such as broccoli and fruits like pomegranate have been shown to shrink and kill tumor cells.

Processed junk food is especially difficult for your body to digest, while fruits and vegetables are easily broken down in your system. This means that your body will spend less energy on digestion and may help you feel more energetic.

Fruits also contain natural sugars so they are the sweet snack that will not cause your body to release too much insulin. This is what is responsible for the crash after you eat sugary foods.

There are many health problems that can be solved by eating more fruits and vegetables. IBS, constipation, and other GI tract issues can be helped or made better by the simple addition of more fruits and vegetables in your diet.
