Caution: 5 Reasons Why Arm Flab And High Protein Dieting Don't Mix

By Katherine Crawford M.S.

There used to be a period in time when all we ate was what could be gathered or hunted. Arm flab, a common female nightmare, was most likely not a problem in those times.

Then came along the food industry and the marketing of magic-bullet diets.

Once industry found that it could make a substantial amount of money by marketing processed food, all the lies began to infiltrate society. From this point on, eating healthy became a giant ball of confusion.

Perhaps one of the most influential fad diets of all time has been the high protein diet. Why? Because it produces the fastest short-term weight loss of any other type of diet.

However, there are 5 things you should consider before going on a high protein diet to get rid of arm flab:

1. Massive drops in energy: You can expect a significant decrease in mental output, and once in ketosis, the need to frequently sleep. Why does this happen? Because your body can produce energy 300% faster when being fed carbohydrates.

2. An inability to exercise hard: Without carbohydrates, exercise will be extremely painful and your ability to recover will virtually vanish. Your body needs carbs to efficiently produce its energy currency, ATP.

3. Increased insulin resistance: High protein intakes can also cause insulin resistance, not just carbs. So take this into account when deciding on an arm flab diet.

4. A loss in muscle definition: Without carbs, your arm muscles will look like deflated balloons. Why? Because carbs pull water into your muscles making them look tight and compact.

5. The largest arm flab rebound: Of all the fad diets, high protein diets produce the fastest weight loss. But they also produce the largest weight regain. This was proven by a multi-million dollar Stanford University study.

I understand that high protein diets are very attractive because they produce almost instant losses in weight. But please consider all the negatives that come with such drastic changes. And don't forget that you could potentially gain back all the arm flab you lost in a very short amount of time. Thus, I do NOT recommend high protein diets for women wishing to get sexy and lean arms once and for all.
