Is Stress Making Your Stomach Protrude?

By Katherine Crawford, M.S.

Not only does stress put you at risk for cancer, but it also promotes the storage of visceral fat. The type of fat that covers your internal organs and makes your stomach protrude.

Now keep in mind that even if you have low subcutaneous fat, you could be holding onto excess internal fat in your stomach. And this type of fat does not look good because it causes the typical pot belly look.

So here is how to lower stress for accelerated fat loss:

1. Keep a journal: You absolutely need some type of tracking system to figure out what is causing your mental hiccups. Only then can you isolate the factors that need to be removed from your life. And please don't rely on your memory to do all the work, this is simply not realistic.

2. Exercise when you're angry: Or get angry when you exercise. You see, our bodies are made to move when we get angry. So reserving angry time when you are exercising is a great way to manage stress in the manner that your body is made for.

3. Take note of how you talk to yourself: If you find yourself using the following words, "never", "always" and "should", please stop. These types of words wreak havoc on your internal system. You see, they are very harsh on your cognitive health, so stay away from them.

4. Use your social ties: People who are not afraid or hesitant to tap into their social networks are very healthy. You see, we are not made to live in vacuums. Instead, we are much better off when we get through problems with the help of others.

5. Become a pack rat: Many of today's stressors are a direct result of financial uncertainty. So make it a habit to stash away some money on a regular basis. Doing so, will give you the mental space to relax and not be so dependent on a job you potentially hate.

Stress kills and it makes you fat in all the wrong places. So it behooves you to keep it at bay. Not only will your health increase, but your stomach will shrink as well.

The Most Reliable And Surest Method To Losing Weight

By Sam Brees

I get a big kick out of all of the fads that come and go in the weight loss world. There are literally thousands of plans that promise to alter your body as long as you stick to them religiously.

Some of these diets even go so far as telling you that you can eat bad foods while losing weight at the same time. Naturally, the people looking to shed fat will always be attracted to plans like these.

Whether these things actually work or not isn't even the point. Some of them will, and others won't, but it shouldn't have to be so complicated.

For some reason, people need to creatively go about their diets, neglecting to stick to the scientific principles that guarantee weight loss. There's a very easy way to get there that people choose to ignore.

At the end of the day, there's on guaranteed way to lose weight and I can't believe that there's a multibillion dollar industry of weight loss programs trying to find their own unique spin on this one simple concept. Let your calories out be more than your calories in, and you'll lose weight. It's as simple as that.

It's really that easy, and I find it amusing that so many people look for ways around it. As long as your caloric output is greater than your intake, your stored energy, more commonly known as fat, will be put to work and slowly go away.

Stop eating so much and your body will stop storing the excess energy you're consuming. Cut down on snacks, candies, and other junk food that isn't nutritionally beneficial to you. The more of these things you have, the longer it will take for you to lose the weight you want to lose.

The second key to the equation here is exercising as much as possible. Work your body out, as this burns even more calories in the process.

The key to this all is doing it on a daily basis without fail. Live by these rules and you'll be thrilled with your results.

5 Arm Toning Downfalls When Eating Too Much Protein

By Katherine Crawford, M.S.

We used to only eat what could be taken from nature. Back then, arm flab was probably not on most women's radar.

Enter the mass production of food and the savvy marketing of snake oil diets.

Once there was money to be made selling food, all hell broke loose. From this point on, the media waves would be flooded with massive amounts of confusing and contradictory information.

Which diet has taken first place? I strongly believe that high protein diets have had the greatest impact within the marketplace. After all, they do produce the fastest and most dramatic changes on the weight scale.

Nevertheless, consider the following 5 arm flab pitfalls of high protein diets before buying all those steaks:

1. Massive drops in energy: You can expect a significant decrease in mental output, and once in ketosis, the need to frequently sleep. Why does this happen? Because your body can produce energy 300% faster when being fed carbohydrates.

2. Low intensity exercise ability: Your body and muscles use ATP to produce work. Without carbs, the production of ATP is really slowed down. Moreover, your ability to recover from exercise will virtually disappear.

3. More resistance to insulin: Carbohydrates aren't the only macronutrient that can cause insulin resistance. Saturated fat and PROTEIN can also do the trick.

4. An instantaneous loss in muscle tone: Water within your muscles makes them look tight and compact. Once you stop eating carbs, all the water will flush out.

5. The biggest arm fat rebound: As demonstrated by Christopher Gardner PhD at Stanford University, high protein diets produce the fastest and biggest weight gain rebound of any other diet. So think twice about high protein and arm flab reducing.

Thinking twice about going on a high protein diet to get rid of arm flab? Although high protein diets can be effective in certain situations, they are not good for the majority of women wishing to get lean arms. I know it's tempting to simply cut out those carbs to see that weight scale move overnight. However, in the long run you'll be worse off.

7 Healthy Food Eating Myths You Should Know

By Travis Hunt

Healthy food eating problems are always in the headlines. We're surrounded by print and TV ads that promote all sorts of "solutions" and products that claim to get the entire nation in shape. There's just no escaping it.

With all the dodgy promotions out there, we all need to practice good judgment from here on out. Today, I will debunk some of these erroneous thinking, starting with the 7 myths on so-called healthy food eating below.

Myth #1: "Fat free" equals "calorie free." Before you buy food products, you read the front label for sure. But do you even bother reading the nutritional info at the back? Food packaging can say "fat free" or "diet" all they want, but that doesn't make it 100% accurate. It's always good to check the dietetic info at the back so you know what you're really putting in your mouth.

Myth #2: Physical training just makes you fatter because you're forced to eat more. Eating all of the essential macronutrients while on an exercise regimen is necessary. Working out won't make you fatter because you actually end up burning more calories in the process. Healthy food eating without exercise is like running a race on one foot - you'll reach the finish line, but just not as quick and effective.

Myth #3: High-protein foods wreck your internal organs. Eating foods that are rich in protein will not injure your kidneys or other internal organs. Simply follow a nutritiously balanced meal plan and work out regularly.

Myth #4: Red meat is cancerous. Red meat isn't the problem; eating thoughtlessly is. Including adequate amounts of red meat in your diet is quite healthy. They're packed with protein - something you'd want in your diet if you want to build muscle.

Myth #5: Eliminate the carbs. Carb-free diets won't do you any good in the long run~can't be good for your body. You need energy to successfully carry out your daily activities. While exercising, your body needs even more energy, so it's still best to include carbohydrates in your meals.

Myth #6: Forget about dinner. You're probably going to lose tons of weight when you skip your meals, but that doesn't mean it's a healthy food eating practice.

Myth #7: Salt is the enemy. A dash of salt in your meals not only enhances the flavor of your food, but you're also filling your sodium requirements. Go for a low-salt diet instead of taking it out entirely.

If you want the assurance of healthy food eating, go beyond counting calories and buying diet food. Read your food labels, ask a doctor for tips, and be in-the-know.

If you eat at irregular times it will kill your diet attempts. Try to get a specific schedule that you follow and follow that time plan each day. Another thing is to pay attention when you are eating, it is advisable to divide your plate into two parts, three fourths of your plate should be filled with vegetables, grains, beans and fruits while the other quarter should be extra-lean meat or low-fat dairy products. Great Posture and Fitness - The 5 Best Core Stability Exercises

By Thaya Kareeson

Core stability exercises improve torso strength as a whole. These exercises target many muscles in the torso including abdominal muscles, internal/external obliques, and muscles that run along the spine. Why do these muscles need to be improved?

Torso or core muscles help provide support for your bones during your everyday activities. Improving these muscles will increase your general physical fitness and decrease your likelihood of back and neck pains or injuries from physical activities.

One of the most important aspects of core stability training programs is that you need to address all muscle groups of the torso in a balanced way. Here are the five best exercises that will give you a good starting point.

1. Straight Crunch. Although old fashion, the straight crunch helps strengthen the "6-pack abs" section of your torso.

2. Crossover Crunch. The crossover crunch is a great exercise that adds a twist of the upper body to the straight crunch movement. This strengthens the muscles that are on the side and front of the abdomen.

3. Back Extension. Start by laying down on your stomach and then start contracting your back muscles. This will help work out muscles along your spine.

4. Arm Sweep. Sitting down in a slightly leaned-back position, the outstretched arms are moved in a helicopter like circle, twisting your upper body back and forth around your hips. This targets the external obliques.

5. Plank or Push-Up. Plank or push-up exercises help develop the transverse abdominis that lay deep within your abdomen and wrap all around your spine. Because of its placement, these muscles directly support and stabilize the spine to help avoid back pains.

Balancing these exercises will allow you to focus on each muscle group in each exercise while currently building the whole core stability package. When you first start core stability training, it might be best to hire a personal trainer to get optimal results. A personal trainer can also help you work more advanced core stability exercises to develop and keep solid core strength.

Are Carbs A Supporter Or An Antagonist For Weight Loss And Health?

By Kathryn T Coleman

In the last few years with the advent of many low carb diet plans, carbohydrates have taken a derogatory rap when it comes to dieting and fat loss. Are carbs truly a culprit to fatness and bad healthiness or is there more to the story?

Our bodies favor carbohydrates as an energy source to fat and protein. Our digestive systems must labor harder to exchange fat and protein into energy and our brains can just function on carbs. However, there are good for you carbohydrates and less good for your health carbohydrates and choosing judiciously will bring you better healthiness and weight loss. Try to choose complex carbohydrates and the least processed, healthiest kinds of simple carbs.

All carbohydrates offer energy for our bodies yet this energy source can be broken down into two categories, simple carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates. Simple carbs are predisposed to hit your bloodstream more rapidly and burn out quicker while complex carbs are liable to be released slower and furnish a longer constant energy. A good example of a simple carb would be white table sugar while a good example of a complex carb would be oatmeal.

You possibly will believe that you just need to pass up simple carbs and try to only consume the complex carbs. But, there is much more to the story and you may not want to completely disregard simple carbs as of yet.

The truth of the matter is that there are many enormously nourishing and advantageous foods that are simple carbs. Not candy bars and pastries of course, but some of the healthiest foodstuff on earth are composed of simple carbs. A good number of fruits and even some vegetables are considered to be simple carbs. Yet, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, peaches, nectarines, the goji berry and the acai berry and really all fruits for that matter, are all exceptionally elevated in nutritional value and antioxidants and they are a very healthful supplement to a healthy pattern of eating.

The best means to incorporate healthy simple carbs in your nutritional regime is to stay away from processing as much as feasible and have the fare in its natural state. Whole fruit comprises fiber and other nutritional value that are not found in juices. Therefore it is much better to eat the whole fruit rather than juices if viable. However, juices can be nourishing in moderation and since the acai berry can only be located in a processed state outside of Brazil, acai berry juice in moderation is a healthful choice.

Over eating of simple carbs or simple sugars can lead to loads of health problems including overweight and obesity. They are liable to generate wild fluctuations in your blood sugar levels, which can lead to an excess of insulin and fat gain.

Carbohydrates are a essential macronutrient and it is not viable or healthy to do away with them overall. But, making healthier choices regarding the ones you consume is very essential for your weight and your health. Try to eat more complex carbs and healthier, less processed simple carbs for instance whole fruit.

How To Stick To Your Resolution To Lose Weight.

By Owen Jones

Without a shadow of a doubt, the most common New Year's resolution in the West is to lose weight. However, it is also the first New Year's resolution most apt to be broken! Losing weight is not difficult in theory, but practice is oh, so different. This is because it involves lifestyle changes.

Our bodies change as we get older and typically our level of activity decreases too. Maybe, we get an office job with a promotion, whereas we used to work 'in the field'. But people in general, do not adjust their diet to match their variation in circumstances. We sit behind our desks or in retirement and think we can still eat and drink like we did twenty years ago. Big mistake!

Fortunately, there are dozens of diets on hand to help us attain our weight loss goals. There are the traditional calorie counting diets, as advocated by Weight Watchers; there are the 'new era' diets like Atkins, which have us counting carbohydrates and there are no end of fad diets which are frankly not worth wasting time discussing.

The choice of which diet you want to follow is all yours, of course, but it is well worth exploring the main types of diet to see which one will suit you. Then you must decide whether you will require the help and encouragement of a weekly visit to a club or not, or whether you can get that companionship from an online club of slimmers, where you talk to fellow slimmers in the club forum online.

It is also worth fixing in your mind, why you want to diet. Is it to look better? Or to feel more comfortable in yourself? Or is it for health reasons? Or all three? Have a think about your reasons and let them motivate you. Whenever, you feel like packing it all in, remember your motivation. Get a book and journal your progress, but first write your motivation in bold capitals on the front page or cover. Keep it in front of you and read it out loud to yourself every day.

Consult some of the slimming sites online and work out a few key metrics like the average weight people are for your height, sex and body type and your BMI or body mass index. Write these figures on the first page of your book too and use them as the ultimate goals.

You could produce a graph and plot your weekly weight to see how you are doing. Set realistic goals and targets. You can get loads of free information from the Weight Watchers and Atkins websites or / and go to see your doctor for advice and leaflets.

Aim to lose something like 10-20 pounds in the first month and eight to ten per month after that. Go slowly and aim to go slowly, because then you will hit your targets and you won't feel like giving up. When you get within five to ten pounds of your target weight, assuming that you have lost a lot of weight, rein back a little and allow yourself a little more freedom. Drop your target to one pound a week, so that you will get a feel for 'eating normally'.

The dreaded exercise; you have to face it, you will need to do more exercise, but two times thirty minute walks a day is ordinarily enough. You could swim once a week too or get an exercise machine, if you are tied to the house by family.

Burn Stomach Fat Lightning Fast - 3 Things You Must Know To Burn Fat Fast!

By Tommie Dixon

Having a beer belly or muffin top can actually take a toll on one's confidence. It's embarrassing to take off your shirt or put on a bikini. Luckily , there are ways to burn stomach fat super fast. Losing intestinal fat quickly will boil down to 3 factors, and those factors will be the focus of this article.

Detoxify The System

detox is the most significant, unknown aspect of weight loss. If our body isn't working properly, losing stomach fat, or any fat actually, is going to be pretty much impossible. Are you aware that people are exposed to deadly toxins each day?

These damaging toxins are in the air we breathe and the food we eat. They balloon up our fat cells, loads of times their standard size and throw off the body's ability to function properly. Fiber additions and fat burning body wraps are superb for detoxifying and losing inches in a hurry!

Get Some Exercise

Staying active is a total must if we want to lose weight quickly . I know folks are busy, but some time has to be made for some calorie burning activities. Jogging, walking, swimming, and bicycling are excellent for burning calories. If we can devote half an hour / day to some aerobics, and do some strength training 2-3 days per week for 15-20 min, the fat will liquify off. ( If your body is properly cleansed ).

Additionally, cleaning, painting, shopping, and gardening are all calorie burning activities too. Anything you can do to stay more active is good for an overall healthy way of life and shedding pounds.

Eat The Smart Way

Eat 6 little meals per day ( approximately 300 calories ), rather than gorging on three large meals. This can do a couple things :

1. Boost our metabolism, making it easier for the body to lose weight.

2. Keep a stable flow of nutrient elements to our system to raise our energy levels so we can stay more active.

Focus on eating correctly, staying active, and do not forget about detoxing the system. If you are doing these things constantly, losing stomach fat will occur quickly .

What Does It Take To Follow A Raw Food Diet Plan?

By Jen Jordyn

When it comes to diet, these days, the world is in a world of hurt. Processed foods, additives and sugars have created an obesity and health problem nightmare. Looking back through the ages, it's no wonder. Thousands of years ago, after all, humans couldn't eat junk food. Instead, they survived on raw food, which partly explains the fact that many people these days are fighting back and trying a raw food diet plan.

As far as understanding how a raw food diet works, you can't until you understand what it is. It may sound self-explanatory, but it's not. There are certain things about it that you really need to understand, if you expect to start and make the most of a raw food eating plan.

Defining Raw Food Diets:

Most people think about raw foods as being traditional fruits and vegetables. That's not all, though. A raw food diet could include variations of those, like dried fruits or fruit or vegetable juices. It could also include completely different things, like raw meat, raw eggs, nuts, sprouts and seeds.

Also, a raw food diet isn't as strict as one might think. The term "raw" doesn't exactly apply. Why? Well, it's because you can partially cook some foods and still be considered to be on a raw food diet.

Raw Food Diet Benefits For Your Body:

Of all of the raw food benefits, time is a big one. It takes much less time to prepare raw food diet meals and yet you can get all of the nutrition you need from them. In fact, you can often just take them with you and eat them on the go. Some of them, such as fruits and nuts, don't require any preparation at all. In a day and age when everyone is so busy, that's valuable time saved.

Raw food diets also have many health benefits. For example, they can help you to lose weight. They can also increase your energy levels both directly and indirectly. In other words, the foods themselves will energize you, but you'll also find yourself sleeping better at night and that will raise your energy levels as well.

It's also worth noting that raw food diets can lower stress levels and also make your mood a lot better. So, if being overwhelmed and stressed out seems like a part of daily life, it doesn't necessarily have to be that way. You can try turning it around with a raw food diet.

So, if you're thinking of following a raw food diet plan, now you understand just a few of the potential benefits. Talk to your doctor and see if switching to such a diet could be right for you. You might just find your entire outlook on life changed by it.

Burn Stomach Fat Naturally

By Cornelius Gomez

There are two critical parts to any program that burns stomach fat naturally :

1. A healthy diet: The nutritional price of the food we eat has a massive bearing on how our metabolism works and how much fat we store away. Eating right is probably one of the more misunderstood parts of how our metabolism works.

When folks go on a "Diet" they cut back on the quantity of food they eat. This decreases caloric intake, which makes sense for those who are trying to lose weight. The issue is if too many calories are cut the body will really slow its metabolism to safeguard its energy stores. This can have the reverse effect that's wanted.

The point is the body wants a certain quantity of calories to fuel its daily processes. If it gets less then this it is going into starvation mode and hoards each bit of energy it can.

The type of calories can have more of an impact on fat levels and metabolism then how many are eaten. Eating healthy nutrient dense foods could cause a rise in metabolism simply for the proven fact that the body has to expend more energy digesting and metabolizing all the nutrient elements to be used by its cells. These include foods that have high amounts of complex carbs, fiber, and vitamins and minerals. Against this processed foods with lots of processed sugars are simple to digest and are efficiently turned into fat storage.

2. Exercise: this is often divided into two part, cardio exercise and resistance training. Cardiovascular or aerobic training is a good way to burn excess calories just by doing straightforward physical activities. While this type of exercise is not stomach specific it is good for overall body fat reduction, which is the key to shedding pounds as you can't lose fat from precise areas.

Resistance or weight lifting is the perfect way to not only burn stomach fat but also firm up those all important abdominal muscles. By weight training your major muscle groups you bring your core muscles into play. These include the abs which helps stabilise the midsection while training. Another benefit that many folks overlook is the large quantity of calories it takes to maintain lean muscle mass. The more you have the more calories you will burn even while resting.

If you want to burn stomach fat naturally then the most effective way is to boost your metabolism with a mixture of a sensible healthful diet and exercises.

It is also very good to add yogurt to your diet to burn fat and build calcium. You can have three servings a day of low fat dairy and you will be satisfied to know that you are enjoying dairy and fighting fat. Sorry but ice cream is not included in this dairy list.

Greens are another great source of burning fat. They are in the vegetable section and anything leafy will work. Cabbage is especially good at burning fat and can be added to many types of meals. Cabbage soup is also a great meal. Salads are great and fill you up well.

Eating healthy is easy when you know the direction to take. All of these foods are delicious and can be added to other foods to eat naturally. It's not a diet but a new way of life.
