How To Get Six Pack Abdominal Muscles Fast

By Jay Allen

One of the most common questions I get asked frequently is how to I get a set of six pack abs fast? Mistakenly, a lot of people believe the secret is to churn out hundreds, if not thousands, of crunches or sit ups. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The abs lie below a layer of fat tissue. It is getting rid of this layer of fat tissue that is the key.

Abs workouts on their own will not help you in losing belly fat. In order to get rid of fat you have to either promote weight loss by dieting or by increasing your metabolism. Unfortunately, abdominal workouts do not increases the bodies metabolic rate enough to stimulate this fat loss. There are much more effective methods that will burn off this fat tissue, faster than sit ups or crunches, to reveal a fine, defined six pack.

To increase the whole body metabolism, the best exercises are those that stress the whole of the body. Those, that work well are:

A combination of leg exercises such as squats, dead lifts, clean and presses, lunges, snatches, sprinting and chest exercises like bench presses.

Most of these exercises use the quadriceps muscle, the big muscle at the top of the thigh. Due to the size of this muscle, any exercise that involves them burns up a lot of calories. These are exercises that I would advise not performing every day as they put a large amount of stress on the body and would probably cause fatigue. I would incorporate them into an overall exercise plan.

Exercising these muscle groups also stimulates the production of growth hormone in the body which would additionally help in the growth of the abdominal muscles.

It is important to note, however, that you should not neglect exercising the abdominal muscles. Exercising them, stimulates them to grow and so will further benefit from the boost in growth hormone production. Like the large muscles it is advisable to incorporate these abs exercises into an overall program.

When losing abdominal fat it is worth bearing in mind that nutrition is probably the most important factor. It is no use investing time on a good workout program to then go and counteract it by eating junk food.

So when I get asked the question - how do I get a six pack, I recommend focusing on exercises that work the large muscles groups of the body. These, along with good nutrition and a smaller amount of focused stomach exercises will help produce a six pack in no time at all.
